What is the best ever video game console?

Game consoles have come along way since the Brown Box, a prototype console designed in the late 60s that featured two controllers and switch board. We’re now in the 7th generation of machines and it’s almost time to sell your xbox games console because the 8th generation is set for release in 2014. And with better eSports info and upgraded equipment rolling into the market every now and then, the choices are aplenty. But after all these years, which is the best console ever?

Sales

According to units sold, the most popular console in history is the Sony PlayStation 2. Released in 2000, the device went on to shift 155 million units, over double that of the PS3, which sold 77 million units, and the Microsoft designed Xbox 360, which sold 77.2 units. Judging by this, you could conclude that the PS2 is the best game console ever. However, this does not tell the entire story, after all, the game console was traditionally the plaything of adolescent males. While manufacturers now market devices and games at a wide range of consumers, this is only relatively recent development. If older models had been marketed in a similar way, then perhaps their sales figures would have been higher.

Innovation

The shift in image of the game console has happened over many years, and for this to have taken place there has needed to be some consoles that have helped to make the break into the mainstream. Chief among these trailblazers is the Game Boy, the Nintendo developed handheld console that opened up gaming to a whole new audience. The Game Boy was cheaper than the larger, static units, it was portable and it featured games that are as addictive today as when they were first released. The Game Boy, however, does have its limitations which, in a category where technology matters, means that is cannot be considered the best console ever, simply one of the most significant.

The More the Merrier

Despite being blamed for, amongst other things, a rise in violent crime and a drop academic levels, with children focusing more on defeating a level boss than on their grammar, game consoles have grown greatly in popularity since the release of the first Game Boy in 1989 and the current crop of consoles, which includes the PS3, the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii, are probably the best ever. As such, it doesn’t come as a surprise to hear that users of these consoles, particularly the Nintendo Wii, are now making the decision to Download wii games on Gamulator so they have a wider choice of games to play. This will only make the experience more enjoyable for everyone involved. Moreover, classic games are being re-released for these modern machines, giving gamers the best of both worlds. These 7th generation consoles have more power, more technology, more interactivity and more connectivity than anything seen before. However, not every gamer will want to have multiple consoles, and some may not even be able to get hold of the most in-demand ones, which is why people are looking to tech like this PSemuX emulator to play the most current games.

Out of the latest machines, the Wii is not a high end console, so the title of the greatest goes to either the Xbox or the PS3. However, as both excel in different areas (the 360 has a wider range of titles and backward compatibility, while the PS3 has a better exclusive titles, free online gaming and more functions), the ultimate choice depends on preference.
