The Haswell architecture refresh from Intel hasn’t subsided. In fact, there has been a lot of excitement around Intel, and for good reason. The new announcements have grabbed a lot of attention. Though the Z97 chipset brought some excellent new motherboards from your favorite manufacturers, Intel just seems to keep improving. Though the chipset doesn’t offer a ton of new things, major corporations like MSI, GIGABYTE, ASUS and ASRock have introduced some great motherboards with the new chipset.

According to many professional and user reviews of the Intel Devil’s Canyon CPU, the i5-4690K and i7-4790K are excellent choices. In this post, we will take a look at the processor that was codenamed Intel Devil’s Canyon by the company. Since its release to the market, it has created a lot of hype. The i7-4790K has been popular and it has quickly surpassed the i7-4790 version that had been popular for some time.

With the K version, you get the ability to adjust the CPU Multiplier with BCLK. This in turn provides you with the ability to achieve a stronger overclock than non-K versions of CPUs. Due to these features and benefits, every Intel Devil’s Canyon CPU review claims that people have loved this chipset. In fact, on Newegg and Amazon, both the i5-4690K and the i7-4790K have 5/5 ratings.

It’s worth mentioning that the i5-4690K and the i7-4790K are compatible with the 1150 LGA pin setup. Intel is highlighting two new primary features of the processor. The most prominent feature is the Thermal Interface Material. It has been designed to improve cooling. The second feature is additional capacitors. They are designed to deliver power more efficiently.

The i7-4790K carries a 4GHz base frequency, while the i5-4690K comes in at 3.5Ghz. According to experts, this sounds nice, and proves to be fantastic. Theses CPUs offer some other great features including 8 Threads, 4 Cores, Turbo Boost 2.0, Unlocked Performance Tuning, Intel HD Graphics 4600 and Hyper-Threading. These are just some of the primary features.

It’s worth mentioning that Intel has decided to introduce these processors at affordable prices. There won’t be much difference between the cost of i7-4790K and i7-4770k. Though this doesn’t offer an incentive for current i7-4770k owners to upgrade, people looking to purchase the i7-4770k will still find the 4790k quite attractive.

Overclocking the Devil’s Canyon CPUs

One big advantage of this processor is that it can be pretty easy to achieve a solid overclock.  Based on tests by it’s users, many overclockers have been able to get the i5-4690K up to and over 4.4GHz and the i7-4790K up to 4.7 GHz. Many reviewers also noted that it seemed easier to get these speeds and keep temps lower than previous versions of Intel’s CPUs. This could be attributed to the better cooling provided by the new thermal interface material.

Overall, the devil’s canyon CPUs are solid processors that would be great in any rig.
